The Positivity Project is a project I dreamed up in February 2012 – a time when I truly felt like I was about to hit rock bottom. My goal is to work through various self-help books and track my progress as I attempt to weed through the advice of the authors I select. I have decided to start with “The Artist’s Way” because its’ 12 week program format makes it easy to “follow along.”
Here’s a little bit about me:
I’m a writer of short stories, poetry, plays, and novels. I’m an actor, and have loved the stage since I discovered it when I was in Junior High. I first turned to the stage as a way to beat my shyness, but now I’m obsessed to the point of wanting to make acting my career. I love to dance in my living room when no one is watching, and as a child I used to create labyrinths out of chalk on my driveway. I have an overactive imagination, and an unyielding ambition. I also have a very annoying voice that likes to sit on my shoulder and whisper “you can’t.” I like to ignore that little voice.
My favourite food is a tie between sushi (salmon and mango roll with brown rice) and all natural peanut butter… although I’ve never tried them together. I am extremely afraid of heights. I live on the 21st floor of an apartment building in Vancouver, and have been on the balcony maybe 4 times in the year I’ve lived here.
I have always wanted to learn how to: surf, play guitar, play the piano, overhand serve a volleyball, dance (hip hop, contemporary, burlesque, popping, tap, jazz), sing, paint, and many other things I can’t think of right now. I feel certain that before my life is up I will learn how to do all of these things – at least on an amateur level.
I love to laugh (although I don’t do it often enough) and I love to play. I am here, I am filled with joy, and I am ready for whatever comes next.
